Have a question? We aim to answer them for all our pupils.
How many lessons will I need?
We all have different natural attributes and skills that we have picked up and developed over the years; for example co-ordination, decision making and road sense to name a few. This means that each individual student's base learning level will drastically differ and pupils learning speeds will also vary.
Your A-Class instructor will work with you and teach you in a way that you understand to help develop your driving skills as quick as possible. They can also conduct a driving assessment for you and observe your current knowledge and how you are taking on and responding to new information.
This can help to give you a more accurate judgement of your current ability and how to move forward. Your instructor will work with you in a way that works best for you to maximise your progress during your lessons.
Remember there is no minimum or maximum number of lessons, you are ready when you are ready!
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay using cash, cheque (made payable to your instructor), bank transfer (ask your instructor for their bank account details). Some of our instructors now have the facility to take payment in person by card (most major debit/credit cards accepted) or Apple/Google pay.
If unsure, please ask you A-Class instructor which methods they have available to you.
When can I start my driving lessons?
You will need to be 17 years old before you can legally drive on the road, so be sure to contact us a good few months prior to turning 17 to ensure we have availability.
Alternatively, if you are keen to get going try taking some ‘Early Bird under 17 lessons’ on our secure off-road facility.
Where do I have to go to take my lessons?
We will come to you! Your A-Class instructor will liaise with you where the best place is to pick you up from and finish your lesson working around your busy schedule. This could be for example from home, work or college.
Do I need my provisional licence?
Yes. You will need to show your provisional licence to your instructor on your first lesson and also provide an licence 'check code' which you can obtain from the UK Government website and follow the steps. This will allow your instructor to digitally check your eligibility to drive.
Can I keep the same time/day for my lessons each week?
This would depend on your instructor’s availability but usually yes. We always recommend having a few time slots free where your instructor can fit you in to allow for them to cover driving tests for other pupils if necessary.
How many lessons per week can I do?
This is entirely up to you and your instructor’s availability. The more practise you can do the quicker you'll be ready!
How long are the lessons?
Your lessons can be as long as you would like! We offer 1 hour, 1.5 hours or 2 hour lessons traditionally. But we can extend them to 3, 4 and 5 hours (with a rest break) if an intensive course is more suited to you.
Can I practise at home?
Absolutely! Practising at home supplements your lessons is a great way to improve. The more practise you get, the better, safer and more confident you will be.
Also, the more miles you spend behind the wheel, the more that goes into your experience bank and help improve your decision-making.
Speak to your instructor to see when they think you are ready to start practising at home.
Are your instructors fully qualified?
Yes. All of our instructors are DVSA approved and fully qualified with Enhanced DBS checks.
Prepaid lessons or lesson blocks
Do you do prepayment or block discounts?
Yes we do! You can pay individually for each lesson as you go or you can gain a discount by purchasing lessons in blocks of 10 or 20 hours.
Please see our Lesson Prices section for our up to date prices and offers.
Do prepaid lessons (blocks) need to be booked in all in one go?
Simply put no they don't. You are free to use the hours you have purchased when you want to.
Can I get a refund on any unused prepaid (block) booked lessons?
Yes. However, you may lose the discount given to the lessons already undertaken and refunded the remaining funds.
Can I share my prepaid (block) booked lessons?
Yes. The hours purchased can be used by siblings or members of the same household.
What car will I be driving?
We currently have the VW Polo 1.0 SE manual transmission, petrol and Seat Ibiza 1.0 FR manual transmission, petrol.
What car will I take my test car in?
The car you use for your test will be your instructor's car that you take your lessons in, therefore it will be nice and familiar to you.
If you are lucky enough to be able to practise privately at home you also have the option to use your own car for the test if you prefer.
Do your learner cars have dual controls?
Yes, they have full dual controls which override the pupil’s.
